prayer and the art of volkswagen maintenance
First off, prayer and the art of volkswagen maintenance is a book; a simple, easy read that could be described as a slice of life. I recommend it. Secondly, in light of this book, I just recently jumped in a van with some folks and road tripped it to Wisconsin to attend a Prayer Summit. So for all intensive purposes, the title of my story has now been altered to "the art of prayer." Yes, the summit was incredible, though I am not coming back to profess a deep knowledge into the secrets of prayer. Instead, I want to testify to the fact that prayer is, indeed, an art. Or maybe not so much an art, rather prayer IS art. As art may encompass song, dance, poetry, story, picture, and other expression, so does prayer. Here is the conundrum: will an artist paint a masterpiece on his first stroke, and will he paint the same piece repeatedly? No. So here's where the dance takes place; on a tightrope between practice and creativity. And so the curtain is veiled...
